About Your Doctor

Dr Greenlaw has a very busy practice, commonly performing more than a dozen joint replacement surgeries per week, making him one of the busiest joint replacement surgeons in private practice in the Carolinas. He still manages to maintain a very active teaching role both nationally and internationally, having given lectures and presentations on joint replacement surgery in over 30 cities in the U.S. as well as international locations including Europe.

Dr Greenlaw works with joint replacement manufacturing companies, designing implants and instrumentation, as well as teaching other surgeons the best way to put the implants in at surgery. This gives him access to custom instruments for surgery and cutting edge implants that many surgeons across the U.S. do not have access to.

Dr Greenlaw is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in joint replacement surgery. He completed his fellowship training to subspecialize in joint replacement surgery at the prestigious Duke University Medical Center in 2003. His internship and residency, as well as medical school were done in Boston, one of the premier medical cities in the world, graduating in the top of his class at Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed undergraduate studies with a B.S. degree in Microbiology with highest distinction from the University of Maine, staying close to home to help with the family business during college.

Dr Greenlaw comes from humble beginnings and has never forgotten small town life on the coast of Maine. One of the main reasons for choosing private practice in Wilson was to build a joint replacement center that would allow him to get to know his patients at a personal level. He felt like too much of the compassion needed to treat patients with joint replacement surgery was lost at the massive teaching hospitals in the big cities.

Dr Greenlaw has a lovely and supportive wife Heather, as well as the twins Hayden (boy) and Hadley (girl) born in late 2009. Their pictures can frequently be seen in his exam room on the screen savers in his office computers. His outside interests include golf, boating, cooking, and fitness. His number one priority in life is his family, and he strives to make each patient feel part of his "surgery family", treating each patient with the care and expertise he would want for his own loved ones.
